Starting Lineup

Siyam · Tahsin · Ornob · Sadhin · Sifat · Jabed · Mehraj · Noyon · Munna · Hisam · Jihad

Man City focuses on a high press and heavy verticality through a 2-5-3 formation. This lineup aims to dominate the pitch by squeezing the space in the middle and using advanced positioning to win the ball back high up the pitch. The goal is to push the opposition deep into their own half and create rapid attacking waves.

Hisam stays behind the line to act as a sweeper behind a high line. The defensive unit relies on a narrow two man back line consisting of Tahsin and Siyam. Both Tahsin and Siyam must be ready to step up to set the offside trap or cover wide areas when the midfield is bypassed. This formation requires them to be extremely fast to deal with any runners in behind, as there is very little cover behind them.

The midfield is built as a five man unit designed to control the center and the half spaces. Ornob plays as a single pivot to shield the defense and recycle possession. Ahead of him, Sadhin and Sifat act as central midfielders to connect the lines and win the second ball. Noyon and Jihad operate in the half spaces as attacking midfielders to press aggressively and drive forward with the ball into the final third. This central block works to compress the midfield and deny the turn for any opposing playmakers.

Man City utilizes three attackers across the front to pin the last defender. Jabed acts as a pressing centre-forward to lead the line and find the feet of the striker. On the flanks, Munna and Mehraj act as wide wingers who stretch the defence. Munna and Mehraj are tasked to pull wide to create space in the middle or cut inside to create overloads. This front three works to press from the front and force a long ball, allowing the midfielders to intercept and launch immediate attacks.

One major advantage of this formation is the ability to press high in coordinated waves. With five midfielders and three forwards, the team can swarm the ball carrier and win it back high up the pitch. Another strength is the numerical superiority in the middle of the pitch, which allows Man City to control the tempo and switch play quickly. This creates many chances for the wide players to isolate a one on one situation against the opposition full backs.

This 2-5-3 formation is built for relentless attacking pressure and high intensity. It is best suited for games where the team needs to dominate possession and break down a team that sits deep in a low block.
