SK Sturm aims to play with high intensity and a direct verticality, operating through a 4-2-4 formation. This lineup is built to punish opponents with rapid transitions and heavy pressure in the final third. The goal is to stretch the defence by using the full width of the pitch and forcing the opposition into a retreating position.

In the defensive unit, Daniil acts as the last line of defence. A flat back four serves as the foundation, with Luis playing as the left back and Arjan operating on the right. Joshua and Petar occupy the central positions, where they must hold the line and defend zonally to prevent runners from breaking through. The full backs are expected to push up to support the attack, meaning Joshua and Petar must often cover the space behind them to prevent counter attacks.

The midfield works as a double pivot to provide a layer of protection for the back four. Jacob and Jon Gorenc operate in the center, where they must work to win the second ball and recycle possession. Jacob looks to drive forward with the ball to bridge the gap between the lines, while Jon Gorenc stays deeper to shield the defence and disrupt the opposition. This pairing is vital for connecting the defensive work of the back four to the heavy attacking force ahead of them.

The attacking structure is aggressive, utilizing four players across the front to pin the opposition back. Oumar and Nelson lead the line as a central partnership, with Oumar acting to find the feet of the striker and Nelson looking to hit in behind on the transition. On the flanks, Gizo and Otar provide immense width. Gizo and Otar tend to hug the touchline to stretch the defence, creating space in the middle for the central forwards to exploit through runs in behind or quick combinations.

SK Sturm gains a significant advantage by creating wide overloads when the full backs join the winger. The 4-2-4 formation also allows for a coordinated press from the front, with all four attackers able to press the goalkeeper and defenders high up the pitch. This creates constant pressure and forces the opposition to play long balls, which the midfield pivot can then intercept.

This formation is designed for a high-octane, attacking style of football. It is best suited for games where SK Sturm needs to break down a low block or exploit a vulnerable, high defensive line through sheer numbers.
