The midfield operates as a three man midfield with a carrier and an attacking ten. Lucas plays in the hole behind the striker to connect the lines and find the feet of the striker. Emiliano and Luis occupy the central roles to control the tempo and progress through the thirds. Luis works to drive forward with the ball, while Emiliano protects the area in front of the defense to deny the pivot. This group works to recycle possession and shift the play quickly from one side to the other.

Palmeiras utilizes three attackers across the front to stretch the defense. Paulinho acts as a pressing centre-forward to lead the line and pin the last defender. On the flanks, Felipe and Ramón operate as wide wingers who cut inside to create central presence. Felipe looks to isolate a one on one wide, while Ramón moves into the half spaces to receive on the half-turn. The forwards press from the front to force a long ball and win the ball back high up the pitch.
