Cruzeiro focuses on a high press and quick attacking transitions using a 4-3-3. The midfield works as a three-man midfield with a carrier to bridge the lines. Gerson plays as the attacking ten behind the striker, acting as the primary creator to find the feet of the striker. Zé and Matheus operate in the central areas, where Zé works to shield the defence and Matheus drives forward with the ball to carry it into the final third. This unit must press aggressively to win the ball high and immediately link the defensive unit to the front line.

Cruzeiro employs three attackers across the front to pressure the opposition. Kaio plays as a lone striker who must hold up the ball and pin the last defender to create space for others. On the wings, Keny acts as an inverted winger who cuts inside to create shooting opportunities, while Matheus plays as a wide winger who stays closer to the touchline to stretch the play. This movement allows for combinations in tight spaces and creates runs in behind the defensive line.

A major tactical advantage for Cruzeiro is the ability to press high in coordinated waves, forcing long balls from the opponent.
