Cruzeiro aims to dominate through a high press and quick verticality using a 4-3-3. This lineup is built to win the ball high up the pitch and strike before the opponent can settle. By pushing the lines forward, the team looks to squeeze the space and create chances through rapid transitions.

Cássio acts as the last line of defense, providing a steady presence behind a flat back four. Lucas and João form the central defensive pairing, with Lucas focusing on covering ground and João acting as the dominant force in the air. The wide defenders, Kauã and Fagner, provide width and are expected to push high to support the attack. This defensive unit works to maintain a high line and set the offside trap to keep the opposition pinned back.

The midfield functions as a three-man midfield with a carrier and an attacking ten. Gabriel occupies the space behind the striker, looking to find pockets of space and play through the lines. Lucas and the other Lucas work to control the middle, with one player tasked to shield the defense while the other drives forward with the ball. They connect the defensive unit to the front three by recycling possession and finding ways to break the lines.

Cruzeiro employs three attackers across the front to stretch the opposition. Luciano operates as a pressing centre-forward, leading the line by forcing long balls and harassing the defenders.
