Starting Lineup

Craciun · Croitoru · Salcianu · Dandea · Georgescu · Toma · Trascu · Constantin · Huiban · Pitulac · Danciu

FCSB relies on a high pressing identity to win the ball high up the pitch in a 4-2-4. This lineup is built to attack with heavy numbers and force the opposition into mistakes through sheer verticality. By committing players forward, the team aims to bypass the midfield quickly and create direct goalscoring opportunities.

Craciun starts between the posts to guard the goal. The defense works as a flat back four with Croitoru acting as the right back and Georgescu playing as the left back. Salcianu and Dandea operate as the two central defenders, where they must defend zonally and manage the space behind them if the team presses high. The full backs are expected to provide width and cover the flanks, while Salcianu and Dandea focus on winning the second ball and clearing the lines when under pressure.

The midfield consists of a double pivot with Toma and Trascu working to control the center. Toma and Trascu must sit deep to shield the defense and act as the connection between the back four and the attack. They are responsible for recycling possession and preventing counter attacks by cutting off the passing lane to the opposition forwards. When the team wins the ball, these two must quickly find the attackers to maintain the momentum of the transition.

Up front, FCSB utilizes two forwards in a partnership with Constantin and Huiban leading the line. The attack is spread wide with Pitulac playing as a left winger and Danciu as a right winger. Pitulac and Danciu often cut inside to create more central presence or provide service to the two strikers. The forwards are tasked to press from the front to pin the last defender and force a long ball from the opposition. This front line is designed to create runs in behind and exploit the space left by a retreating defense.

One major advantage for FCSB is the ability to create wide overloads through the combination of the wingers and the full backs. Another strength is the high pressing in coordinated waves, which can suffocate an opponent in their own half. The heavy presence of four attackers allows the team to pin the opposition defense back and create constant pressure in the final third.

The 4-2-4 formation focuses on aggressive attacking and high intensity pressing. This setup is best suited for games where the team needs to overwhelm a defensively deep opponent or chase a result through direct play.
