FCSB Football Formation
Starting Lineup
Craciun · Croitoru · Salcianu · Dandea · Georgescu · Toma · Trascu · Constantin · Huiban · Pitulac · DanciuFCSB looks to play a direct and aggressive brand of football using a 4-2-4. This formation is built to stretch the opposition and overwhelm them with numbers in the final third. The goal is to win the ball and move quickly toward the goal to catch defenders out of position.
Craciun plays between the posts to command his area. The back line works as a flat back four with Croitoru acting as the right back and Georgescu as the left back. Salcianu and Dandea occupy the central defensive roles where they must stay compact to avoid being split by long balls. The defenders look to hold the line while ensuring they do not get caught too high when the team pushes forward.
A double pivot provides the foundation in the middle of the pitch. Toma and Trascu sit in front of the defense to shield the back four and win the second ball. They act as the link between the defense and the attack by recycling possession and finding the wide players. Toma and Trascu must be disciplined to cover the massive spaces left behind when the team commits bodies forward.
The attacking front line consists of three attackers across the front with a heavy focus on the wide areas. Pitulac stays wide on the left to pull the defender out of position while Danciu operates on the right to cut inside and find space. Constantin and Huiban play as a duo of center forwards to pin the opposition defenders. This duo works to combine in tight spaces or push the line back to create runs in behind.
FCSB gains a clear advantage through their ability to press from the front in coordinated waves. By having four players near the opposition defense, they can trigger a press high up the pitch to win the ball back quickly. Another strength is the ability to isolate wide players in one on one situations once the ball is switched to the flanks.
This 4-2-4 formation creates a high risk and high reward scenario for FCSB. It is best suited for games where the team needs to chase a result or face an opponent that struggles to defend against heavy vertical pressure.
