Coritiba plays with a heavy focus on high pressing and verticality in a 4-3-3. The team looks to win the ball high up the pitch and move forward with speed to catch the opposition out of position. This formation is built to stretch the defence and create chaos through quick transitions.

Pedro stays between the posts to organize the defensive unit. The back line functions as a flat back four with Jacy and Tiago acting as the central defenders. Jacy operates as a ball playing defender to help start attacks, while Tiago provides cover to sweep behind a high line. On the flanks, JP plays as a right back to maintain stability, while Bruno acts as an attacking full back to provide width. The defenders must stay compact to ensure they do not get caught by long balls.

The midfield is a three-man midfield with a carrier and creative outlets. Sebastián works as the deep lying playmaker to recycle possession and protect the back four. Thiago connects the defensive and attacking lines by driving forward with the ball into the half spaces. Josué plays as an attacking ten behind the striker, acting as the primary playmaker to find through balls. This trio works to compress the midfield and deny the turn to opposition players.

Coritiba uses three attackers across the front to pin the last defender. Breno plays as an inverted winger on the left to cut inside and create chances, while Lucas stays wide on the right to stretch the pitch. Pedro acts as a pressing centre forward to trigger a press from the front. The front three look to create runs in behind and combine in tight spaces near the box. They often look to hit in behind on the transition to catch the defence before they can recover.

A major advantage for Coritiba is the ability to press high in coordinated waves. By using Josué to squeeze the space between the lines, the team can win the ball back high up the pitch. Another strength is the wide overloads created when Bruno and Breno push forward, forcing the opposition to defend in much larger areas. This setup allows the team to transition from a mid block to a heavy attack very quickly.

This 4-3-3 formation relies on aggressive pressing and quick vertical movement to break down opponents. Coritiba is best suited for games against teams that struggle to play out from the back or leave large spaces behind their defensive line.
