Starting Lineup
Jonat (10) · Nondo (11) · Janam (6) · Nazar (8) · Tarum (17) · Real (5) · Samnata (7) · Adar (4) · Tarum (1) · Kushal (9) · Debayan (12)A direct and vertical style of play defines this lineup using a 4-4-2. The team aims to move the ball forward quickly to catch the opposition off guard. This formation is built to exploit transitions and use the width of the pitch to stretch the defense.
Tarum operates between the posts to organize the defensive unit. The back four consists of Debayan at right back and Adar at left back, who both look to support the attack. In the middle, Kushal and Real act as the central defenders. Kushal provides strength in the air while Real covers space and steps up to intercept passes. The unit works to maintain a compact shape to deny space between the lines.
The midfield works as a four man block to control the center of the pitch. Samnata plays as a single pivot to shield the defense and win the second ball. Nazar and Janam operate as the wide midfielders, tasked to track back and help the full backs while also looking to carry the ball forward. Tarum plays in the central midfield role to connect the defense to the attack and recycle possession. This midfield unit must press in pairs to force a long ball from the opposition.
In the final third, the team uses two forwards in a partnership. Nondo acts as a pressing centre-forward to disrupt the opposition build up from the back. Jonat works alongside him to link up play and make runs in behind the defense. The attack relies on combinations to break the line, often using the width provided by Debayan and Adar to deliver crosses into the box. They look to hit in behind on the transition to exploit high defensive lines.
This formation offers several tactical advantages. The team can achieve compactness when defending a lead in a low block. They also use wide overloads when the full backs push up to overlap the wingers. The presence of two strikers ensures they can always find a target to hold up the ball and allow the midfield to join the attack.
The 4-4-2 formation provides a balance of defensive stability and attacking directness. It is best suited for games where the team needs to play against a dominant possession side by hitting them on the break.
