Burnley aims to dominate through a high press and aggressive verticality in a 2-4-4. This lineup is built to pin the opposition back and overwhelm them with numbers in the final third. The goal is to win the ball high up the pitch and strike immediately before the opponent can settle.

In goal, 60 WEISS acts as the last line of defense. The defensive unit operates with a very high line consisting of only two central defenders, AHMEDHODZIC and ALLEYNE. These two must remain compact to avoid being caught by long balls, with AHMEDHODZIC often stepping into midfield to intercept play while ALLEYNE provides cover. Because there are no full backs, these two defenders must be ready to defend large spaces when the ball is switched wide.

The midfield works in a central block to control the center of the pitch. LUCAS PIRES sits as a single pivot to shield the two defenders and recycle possession. Beside him, C.ROBERTS and CULLEN act as two eight players, with CULLEN often driving forward with the ball to link the lines. REO H. plays as an attacking ten behind the forwards, tasked to find pockets of space and deliver passes through the lines. This four man midfield acts as the engine to press in a mid-block or win the ball high.

The attacking front line is designed for maximum pressure and width. RAMAZANI plays on the left as an inverted winger who likes to cut inside, while SATPAYEV occupies the right wing to stretch the defence. In the center, AMDOUNI and VARDY operate as two forwards in a partnership. AMDOUNI works as a pressing centre-forward to harass the opposition back line, while VARDY can hold up the ball to bring the midfielders into play. Burnley uses these four attackers to create constant runs in behind and overwhelm the central defenders.

One major strength of this Burnley formation is the ability to press high in coordinated waves, making it difficult for opponents to play out from the back.
