Tarnovanu acts as the last line of defence in goal. Ahead of him, the back four operates as a zonal line to maintain compactness. Nghezana and Dawa form the central pairing, where they must focus on winning the header and clearing the lines during sustained pressure. Radunovic and Cretu play as wide defenders, needing to track back when the ball is lost while providing width when the team wins it. The defensive unit works to stay compact to deny the turn of any incoming attackers.

The midfield consists of a double pivot to provide stability. Paolo and Muhar sit in front of the defence to shield the back four and recycle possession. They are tasked with winning the second ball and acting as the bridge to the front line. While one player stays to protect the centre, the other can drive forward with the ball to connect the lines. This duo must press in a mid-block to prevent the opposition from playing through the thirds.

FCSB employs four attackers across the front to maximize pressure. Miculescu and Korenica act as wide wingers, with Miculescu looking to get to the byline and Korenica ready to cut inside. In the centre, Cisotti and Drăguș operate as two forwards in a partnership. Cisotti can act as a target man to hold up the ball, while Drăguș looks to make runs in behind the defence. This attacking setup is designed to create cutbacks from the byline and isolate wide players in one on one situations.

One major advantage for FCSB is the ability to create wide overloads when the full backs push high to support the wingers. The formation also allows for high pressing in coordinated waves, putting intense pressure on the opposition goalkeeper and defenders.
