Focusing on a compact defensive block and quick transitions, Újpest operates with a 4-5-1 formation. This lineup is built to sit deep and deny space in the middle of the pitch before looking to hit opponents in behind. The team relies on defensive solidity to frustrate the opposition, making them hard to break down through the central areas.

Szappanos stays between the posts to command his area and organize the back line. A flat back four forms the base of the defense, with Bodnár and Zeke acting as full backs to cover the flanks. Stronati and Heitor operate as the central defenders, where Stronati focuses on winning headers and Heitor covers the space behind him. The unit aims to hold the line and stay narrow to force the opposition to the wings.

The midfield is a dense five man unit designed to squeeze the space in the center. Maier and Szendrei act as a double pivot to shield the defense and disrupt play. Ljujic, Horváth, and Matko occupy the remaining spaces, with Matko and Horváth looking to connect the defensive and attacking lines. These players must work hard to track back and press in a mid-block to win the ball back high up the pitch.

Újpest utilizes a lone striker, Amenyido, who leads the line as a pressing centre-forward. Amenyido is tasked to pin the last defender and fight for long balls to allow the midfielders to push up. The attack is built through quick transitions where the midfielders look to find Amenyido or use the wide areas. The team looks to create runs in behind and use the movement of the five midfielders to support the lone attacker.

One major strength of this formation is the extreme compactness when defending in a low block. By crowding the midfield, Újpest makes it very difficult for opponents to play through the lines. Another advantage is the ability to switch play quickly to the wide players to exploit spaces left by attacking full backs.
