Sabah plays with a heavy emphasis on a high press and rapid transitions using a 3-4-3 formation. This lineup is built to win the ball back high up the pitch and use the width of the field to stretch the opposition. The goal is to move from a defensive block into a vertical attacking phase as quickly as possible to catch the opponent out of position.

Damien Lim sits between the posts to oversee the defensive line. The back three consists of Hanafie Tokyo, Dominic Tan, and Cadate. Hanafie Tokyo acts as the right side of the central trio, while Dominic Tan holds the center of the defense. Cadate operates on the left of the three. This unit often works in a high line to squeeze the space and keep the team compact. They focus on winning the second ball and making sure they cover the space left by the advancing wide players.

The midfield functions as a four-man unit designed to control the center and the flanks. Sho Yamamoto and Danel Nizam operate in the middle to connect the defense and the attack. Sho Yamamoto looks to drive forward with the ball and progress through the thirds, while Danel Nizam works to intercept passes and protect the center. On the wings, Cifu and D. Ingham provide the width. Cifu acts as a left midfielder to support the wide areas, while D. Ingham operates on the right to help the team switch play.

Sabah uses three attackers to pin the last defender and create constant pressure. Direnzo acts as the lone striker and is tasked to hold up the ball and find the feet of the attacking midfielders. On the flanks, Park JB and Fayadh operate as wide attackers. Park JB looks to cut inside and create goal threats, while Fayadh provides width on the right. These three forwards press the opposition back line to force a long ball and prevent them from playing out from the back.

One main advantage for Sabah is the ability to press high in coordinated waves using the front three and the midfield four. The formation also allows for wide overloads when Cifu or D. Ingham push up to support the wingers. This creates situations where the team can isolate wide players in one on one battles. The team can also shift quickly to cover the flanks when they lose possession.
