Moure and Mamberto sit in a double pivot to shield the defense and cut off the passing lane to the opposition strikers. Medina and Sánchez operate as the two interior players, tasked to press aggressively in a mid-block and carry the ball forward. Zárate plays as the attacking ten behind the striker, looking to find the feet of the striker or make late runs into the box to support the attack.

In the attacking phase, the team uses a lone striker in Espina Sívori to lead the line. Espina Sívori must work to hold up the ball and pin the last defender to allow the midfielders to join the play. The attacking movement relies on the midfielders splitting the defense with a through ball or feeding the wide areas for the full backs to cross. The goal is to use combinations in tight spaces to break the lines and create chances.

One major strength of this formation is the ability to compress the midfield and deny the pivot of the opposition. By having five players in the middle, the team can easily double up on runners and ensure they always have cover. Another advantage is the tactical flexibility to shift into a more defensive block when protecting a lead, making it very hard to break down.
