The midfield is the engine room for Hamburg, operating as a five man unit to control the ball. Møller Wolfe and El Ouahdi form a double pivot to shield the defense, with Møller Wolfe looking to protect the central zone while El Ouahdi works to recycle possession. Remberg and Capaldo operate in the half spaces as two inverted eights, helping to connect the defense to the attack and press aggressively to win the ball high up the pitch. Grønbaek plays as an attacking ten behind the striker, looking to find pockets of space and play through the lines to create scoring chances.

The attacking front line uses three players to stretch the opposition defense. Adeline stays wide on the left as an inverted winger to cut inside, while Vieira operates on the right to provide width or drill inside. Daka acts as the central pressing centre forward, using his movement to pin the last defender and create space for the midfielders. This front three works to press from the front, forcing the opposition to play long balls that the central defenders can win.

One major advantage for Hamburg is the numerical superiority in midfield, which allows them to dominate the middle third. The presence of five players in the center makes it difficult for opponents to pass through the lines. Another strength is the ability to attack in combinations, using the link up play between Grønbaek and the front three to create quick movements.
