Coritiba focuses on a high press and fast offensive transitions using a 4-3-3. This formation aims to control the pitch by squeezing the space in the opposition half and winning the ball back high up the pitch. The lineup is built to move the ball quickly through the thirds to catch defenders out of position.

Pedro starts in goal to organize the defensive line. The back four operates as a zonal line with Tinga and Bruno acting as full backs to provide width. Rodrigo and Maicon sit in the middle as central defenders, where Maicon provides coverage while Rodrigo stays firm to win the header in aerial duels. The defensive unit aims to hold the line and step up to set the offside trap when the team presses high.

A three man midfield controls the central area. Vini and Thiago work to win the second ball and connect the defensive and attacking lines. Gustavo plays as an attacking ten behind the striker, looking to find the feet of the striker or arrive late into the box. While Thiago helps to shield the defence, Vini is able to carry the ball forward to break the line. This midfield setup allows Coritiba to recycle possession and move from a mid block into a sudden attack.

The attacking front line uses three attackers to stretch the defence. Renato acts as a pressing centre forward to harass the opposition back line and force a long ball. Brian and Joaquín play as wide wingers who hug the touchline to pull defenders apart. This allows Brian to cut inside and create space for Bruno to overlap. The forwards aim to play one two combinations to find space behind the last defender or deliver early crosses into the box.

Coritiba gains a major advantage through the ability to press high in coordinated waves. By using Gustavo to pin the last defender, the wide players like Joaquín can isolate a one on one wide. The team also benefits from the speed of transition when Vini and Thiago win the ball and immediately look to hit in behind on the transition.

This 4-3-3 formation is built for an aggressive side that wants to dominate through high intensity. It is best suited for games against opponents who struggle to play out from the back under pressure.
