Paks Football Formation
Starting Lineup
Kovacsik · Vas · Szabo · Skekszardi (Gyorfi) · Zeke · Balogh · Windecker · Lenzser (Kuzma) · Hahn (Peto) · Papp (Horvath) · Szalai (Bode)Paks relies on a direct and high pressing identity through a 3-4-3 formation. This lineup is built to win the ball high up the pitch and use the width of the field to stretch the opposition. The team looks to exploit transitions by moving the ball quickly from the middle third into the final third.
Kovacsik sits between the lines as the goalkeeper to start the build up. The back three consists of Vas acting as the central defender to hold the line, while Szabo and Skekszardi operate as the wide centre-backs. Szabo and Skekszardi are tasked to cover the space behind the wingers and win the second ball when the high press fails. This defensive unit works to squeeze the space between the lines and push the opposition back toward their own goal.
The midfield functions as a four man block with Lenzser and Zeke playing as wide midfielders. Lenzser and Zeke provide the necessary width to support the attack while tracking back to help the defense. In the middle, Windecker and Balogh operate as a central pairing to control the tempo. Windecker and Balogh work to intercept passes and carry the ball forward to connect the defense to the front three. They must be ready to press in pairs to ensure the midfield remains compact.
Paks utilizes three attackers across the front to pin the last defender. Szalai acts as the central striker to hold up the ball and link play with the wider players. Hahn and Papp operate as wide attackers, with Hahn on the left and Papp on the right. Both Hahn and Papp look to cut inside to create goal scoring chances or stretch the defense by pulling wide. This front line is designed to press from the front to force a long ball from the opposition.
A major strength for Paks is the ability to create wide overloads through the movement of Lenzser and Zeke alongside the wingers. This movement allows the team to isolate wide players in one on one situations. Another advantage is the ability to press high in coordinated waves, which forces opponents into mistakes in their own half. The formation allows for quick verticality once the ball is won.
The 3-4-3 formation of Paks creates a heavy attacking presence that can overwhelm defensive lines. This lineup is best suited for matches against teams that play with a high defensive line or struggle to play out from the back.
