Paks Football Formation
Starting Lineup
Kovacsik · Vas · Szabo · Zeke · Papp · Windecker · Lapu (Lenzser) · Gyorfi (Balogh) · Horvath (Gyurkits) · Peto (Toth) · Szalai (Bode)Paks looks to control games through a heavy press and direct attacking movements using a 3-4-3 formation. This lineup is built to win the ball high up the pitch and immediately look to exploit the space behind the opposition defense. The tactical intent is to squeeze the space in the middle of the pitch and use wide players to stretch the opposition.
Kovacsik starts between the posts to manage the defensive line. The back three consists of Szabo in the center with Vas as the right centre-back and Zeke acting as the left centre-back. Szabo is tasked with commanding the area and clearing the lines during periods of pressure. Vas and Zeke act as wide centre-backs who can step up to intercept passes or cover the wide areas when the wingers are caught high. This unit defends zonally to maintain a compact block when the team does not have the ball.
The midfield operates as a central engine room using two central midfielders. Papp and Windecker occupy the middle to protect the back three and connect the defense to the attack. Papp works to shield the defense and win the second ball, while Windecker looks to carry the ball forward and progress through the thirds. Gyorfi and Lapu operate as wide midfielders on the flanks to provide width and support the attacking trio. They are required to track back and help the defenders when the opposition attacks the wings.
In the final third, Paks utilizes three attackers to pin the opposition defense. Szalai leads the line as a lone striker, looking to hold up the ball and find the feet of the oncoming players. Horvath and Peto play as wide attackers, with Horvath cutting inside from the left and Peto looking to get to the byline on the right. This front line is designed to create runs in behind and allow the wingers to isolate defenders in one on one situations. The attackers work together to press from the front and force a long ball from the opposition.
A major advantage for Paks is the ability to press high in coordinated waves using the front three and the wide midfielders. This creates intense pressure that can force turnovers in dangerous areas. The formation also offers wide overloads when Gyorfi and Lapu push high to support the wingers, making it difficult for the opposition to defend the flanks.
This 3-4-3 formation provides a high level of aggression and attacking width. It is best suited for games against teams that play a high defensive line or struggle to handle intense pressure in their own half.
