Custom Team Football Formation
Starting Lineup
GK · LWB · CB · CB · RWB · CDM · CDM · CAM · LW · ST · RWPrioritizing verticality and rapid attacking transitions, this lineup uses a 4-2-4 formation. The intention is to push numbers forward to overwhelm the opponent and strike quickly once the ball is won. This is a high risk, high reward system built to pin the opposition back and punish them through directness.
GK operates as the last line of defense, while the back line maintains a flat back four. CB and CB act as the central pillars, tasked with winning headers and clearing the lines when under pressure. LWB and RWB provide the width in the defensive phase, though they are often expected to push up to support the wings. The defensive unit must remain compact to avoid being caught out by long balls when the team commits many players forward.
In the middle of the pitch, a double pivot provides the primary connection between the defense and the attack. RCM and LCM sit in front of the back four to shield the defense and recycle possession. These two players must be disciplined to prevent counter attacks, as they are often isolated against a three man midfield. They work to win the second ball and quickly find the forwards to initiate a break.
The front line is aggressive, utilizing two wide wingers and two central attackers. LW and RW look to spread wide and stretch the defense, creating space for the central players. CAM plays as a second striker in the hole, operating between the lines to link the midfield to the strike partnership. ST leads the line as a focal point, looking to run in behind or hold up the ball for the arriving runners. This attacking group aims to create constant pressure on the opposition back line through rapid combinations.
A major strength of this formation is the ability to create wide overloads and overwhelm the defense with four dedicated attackers. The team can also hit in behind on the transition with great speed, using the width provided by LW and RW to force the opposition to stretch. This setup allows for high intensity pressing from the front to win the ball high up the pitch.
This formation is designed for heavy offensive pressure and rapid vertical play. It is best suited for games where the team needs to chase a result against a side that sits deep in a low block.
