Higuaín acts as the lone striker and target man, working to hold up the ball and win the header when crosses arrive. Di María and Agüero press the opposition back line aggressively to force a long ball. This setup creates many combinations between the wide players and Higuaín, often resulting in quick one twos to penetrate the defense.

This formation offers significant tactical advantages through its extreme density in the center of the pitch.
