Vigouroux operates as the lone man between the posts, acting as a sweeper to cover the space behind the defense. The defensive unit consists of a pair of central defenders, Famewo and Mumin, who must remain extremely disciplined while playing a high line. These two function as a narrow defensive block, needing to intercept passes and win the second ball as they step up to squeeze the space. Because there are no full backs, Famewo and Mumin must be ready to engage attackers quickly to prevent long balls from bypassing the press.

The midfield is the engine of this formation, utilizing a five man unit to control the central areas. White sits centrally to recycle possession and connect the defense to the attacking players. Alongside him, Key and Moyoyo act as two central midfielders who drive forward with the ball and provide stability. Ashworth operates as an attacking midfielder on the left, while Hutton functions as an attacking midfielder on the right. This midfield group works to win it back high up the pitch and uses short passes to progress through the thirds.

The attacking front line utilizes three players to stretch the defence. Vazquez leads the line as a lone striker, tasked to hold up the ball and pin the last defender. On the wings, Hartley plays as an inverted winger on the left, while Riou occupies the right flank. These attackers are expected to press from the front to force a long ball from the opposition. The formation relies on these forwards to make runs in behind and create combinations in tight spaces to break the lines.

A primary strength of this lineup is the ability to create numerical superiority in the attacking half. By pushing five players into the midfield and three into the front line, the team can overwhelm standard defensive blocks. Another advantage is the ability to press high in coordinated waves, making it very difficult for opponents to play out from the back.
