Ezequiel acts as the last line of defense, guarding the goal. The back four functions as a flat back four, where Giovanni and Marcos provide width as full backs. Giovanni is expected to push up to support the wingers, while Marcos maintains the left side. In the center, Lautaro and Juan Carlos form the defensive pairing, tasked with defending zonally and clearing the lines when under pressure. They must remain disciplined to prevent being caught out by long balls.

The midfield relies on a double pivot to maintain some level of control. Tobías and Fausto occupy the central spaces, acting as the engine room to connect the defense to the heavy frontline. Tobías is tasked with shielding the defense and recycling possession, while Fausto works to drive forward with the ball to break the lines. This duo must work hard to track back and cover the space left behind by the advancing full backs.

The attacking unit is extremely potent, featuring two central forwards and two wide players. Agustín and Santos act as a strike partnership, looking to win the second ball and occupy the central defenders. Agustín often works to hold up the ball, while Santos looks for runs in behind. Out wide, Tomás and Juan Cruz operate as wide wingers who aim to stretch the defense. They look to cut inside or get to the byline to deliver crosses for the two strikers.

River offers significant advantages through their ability to create wide overloads and overwhelm the opposition in transition.
