Racing Club Football Formation
Starting Lineup
FACUNDO (CAMBESES) · JUAN (BARINAGA) · MARCO (DI CESARE) · NAZARENO (COLOMBO) · ALFONSO (ESPINO) · LEONEL (PÉREZ) · ULISES (ORTEGOZA) · MATKO (MILJEVIC) · MATÍAS (ZARACHO) · DUVÁN (VERGARA) · ADRIÁN (MARTÍNEZ)Racing Club aims to control the tempo through heavy ball possession and aggressive high pressing in a 4-3-3. This lineup is built to dominate the ball in the middle third and use wide areas to stretch the opposition. By staying high up the pitch, Racing Club looks to win the ball back quickly and immediately look to play through the lines.
FACUNDO starts in goal to command the area and distribute the ball to the back four. The defense operates as a flat back four where JUAN and ALFONSO act as full backs to provide width. JUAN looks to overlap the winger to create numbers in the final third, while ALFONSO can also push high to pin the opposition wingers back. In the center, MARCO and NAZARENO act as the primary defenders, with MARCO often looking to cover ground while NAZARENO holds the line. They work as a unit to maintain a high line and squeeze the space between the defense and the midfield.
The midfield is built around a three-man midfield with a carrier role. ULISES and LEONEL operate in the central areas to connect the defense and attack, with LEONEL often tasked to drop deep to receive from the center backs. They work to recycle possession and protect the zone in front of the back four. MATKO plays as an attacking ten behind the striker, acting as the creative link in the half-spaces. MATKO is responsible to find the feet of the striker and make late runs into the box to support the attack.
In the attacking phase, the team uses three attackers across the front. ADRIÁN acts as a lone striker who tries to hold up the ball and lead the press from the front. DUVÁN and MATÍAS play as wide wingers who hug the touchline to spread the defense wide. DUVÁN looks to cut inside to create goal threats, while MATÍAS focuses on getting to the byline to deliver crosses. This movement creates space for MATKO to operate in the pockets between the lines and allows for quick combinations in transition.
Racing Club possesses several tactical advantages with this formation. The presence of MATKO allows for numerical superiority in the attacking third, often leaving the opposition midfielders outnumbered. The ability to press high in coordinated waves from DUVÁN, MATÍAS, and ADRIÁN forces the opposition into mistakes. Additionally, the overlapping runs from JUAN and ALFONSO create wide overloads that are difficult to defend.
This formation relies on high energy to maintain pressure and control the game through the ball. It is best suited for matches against teams that sit deep and defend in a low block.
