The midfield operates as a three-man midfield with a carrier. Rodrigo sits in the left central role to shield the defence and win the second ball, while Marcelo plays as the right central midfielder to connect the defensive and attacking lines. Facundo acts as the attacking ten behind the striker, finding pockets of space to play through the lines. This midfield group is tasked to press aggressively to win the ball high and then quickly progress through the thirds to find the forwards.

Newell's utilizes three attackers across the front to pin the last defender. Ignacio plays as a pressing centre-forward, holding up the ball to allow others to join the attack. Walter stays wide on the left as an inverted winger who likes to cut inside, while Mateo operates on the right to stretch the defence. These attackers work to press the opposition back line, creating runs in behind and looking to exploit the space created by the movement of the midfielders.

A major strength of this lineup is the ability to press high in coordinated waves, making it difficult for opponents to play out from the back.
