Platense plays with a high press and a vertical identity using a 4-3-3 formation. Juan Pablo acts as the last line of defence behind a flat back four. Santiago and Ignacio form the central defensive pairing where Santiago operates as a ball playing defender to help play out from the back. Ignacio provides cover and stays solid to defend against runs in behind. Tomás works as an attacking full back to provide width on the left, while Juan Ignacio holds the line on the right to balance the defensive unit. The back four works to squeeze the space between the defensive and midfield lines.

The midfield is a three man midfield with a carrier and a creative element. Pablo and Martín operate in the central areas to control the tempo and recycle possession. Martín often drops deep to help the centre backs, while Pablo works to carry the ball forward into the half spaces. Franco plays as an attacking ten behind the striker, acting as the link that connects the midfield to the front three. Franco pushes high to press the opposition and looks to play through the lines to find the attackers.

Platense uses three attackers across the front to pin the last defender. Nico operates as a pressing centre forward who looks to win the second ball and find space between the lines. On the flanks, Franco acts as an inverted winger who cuts inside to create space for the overlapping runs of Tomás. Guido plays as a wide winger who stays closer to the touchline to spread the play and deliver crosses. The front three combine in tight spaces to create chances through quick one-two passing and runs in behind.

One major advantage for Platense is the ability to press high in coordinated waves, putting immense pressure on the opposition goalkeeper and defenders. The formation also creates wide overloads when the full backs push up to join the wingers. This allows the team to pin the opposition back and control the width of the pitch. The presence of Franco in the hole provides numerical superiority in the final third, making it difficult for opponents to mark everyone.
