The midfield functions as a three-man midfield with a carrier. N. Barros operates in the left channel to connect the defense to the attack, while Augusto holds his position to shield the defense. Juan plays as an attacking ten behind the striker to find pockets of space between the opposition lines. This trio works to recycle possession and find ways to progress through the thirds. N. Barros and Augusto work to win the ball back in a mid-block to trigger a quick break.
