Huracán Football Formation
Starting Lineup
SEBASTIÁN (MEZA) · FEDERICO (VERA) · MÁXIMO (PALAZZO) · DANIEL (ZABALA) · LEANDRO (LESCANO) · EMMANUEL (OJEDA) · FACUNDO (WALLER) · SANTIAGO (LUJÁN) · FACUNDO (KALINGER) · IGNACIO (PUSSETTO) · BRUNO (BARTICCIOTTO)Huracán aims to play a very vertical and direct brand of football using a 4-2-4. This formation is built to overwhelm the opposition through heavy numbers in the final third and quick transitions. The goal is to press high and catch the opponent off guard by pushing players forward rapidly to exploit spaces behind the defensive line.
Sebastián plays between the posts to organize the defensive line. The back four operates as a flat line where Federico acts as a right back and Leandro plays as the left back. In the middle of the defense, Máximo and Daniel form the central pairing to hold the line and win the second ball. The defensive unit must stay compact to avoid being split when the team moves forward. Daniel and Máximo focus on covering space and winning headers to keep the opposition away from the goal.
The midfield relies on a double pivot consisting of Emmanuel and Facundo. These two players act as the engine room to shield the defense and recycle possession. Emmanuel and Facundo must work hard to cover the ground between the defenders and the attackers. They are tasked with winning the ball back in a mid-block and quickly playing through the lines to reach the front four. This pairing connects the defensive unit to the high attacking line.
Huracán utilizes four attackers to stretch the defense across the pitch. Santiago and Facundo act as wide wingers, with Santiago on the right and Facundo on the left. They look to isolate defenders in one on one situations or whip it in toward the center. In the middle, Ignacio and Bruno play as a two forwards partnership. Ignacio and Bruno act as the main threats by making runs in behind and looking to find the feet of the striker or finish cutbacks. They press the opposition back line to force errors.
A major strength of this lineup is the ability to create wide overloads and overwhelm the opposition in transition. By having four players high up the pitch, Huracán can quickly pin the last defender and create many chances in short periods. The formation also allows for high pressing in coordinated waves to win the ball back high up the pitch.
This 4-2-4 formation is designed for teams looking to play with high intensity and directness. It is best suited for matches where Huracán can exploit a high defensive line through speed and numbers in the box.
