Željeznicar relies on a heavy defensive block and quick transitions using a 5-4-1. The team looks to sit deep, absorb pressure, and hit the opposition on the break. The unit works to keep the distance between the defenders and the midfield midfielders very tight.

The midfield works as a flat four to shield the defense. DRINA and IKIĆ act as a double pivot in the center, with IKIĆ focusing on shielding the defense and DRINA looking to recycle possession and connect the lines. On the edges, KAPETANOVIĆ and MUSIĆ occupy the wide areas, looking to press aggressively to win the ball high when the team moves out of the low block. This midfield unit aims to compress the midfield and deny the turn to any attacking players in the half spaces.

Damjanović acts as a lone striker and a pressing centre-forward to disrupt the opposition back line. He is tasked to hold up the ball and wait for support, often playing with his back to goal. The attack relies on the width provided by JOVIĆ and GASAL to deliver crosses into the box. When Željeznicar breaks quickly, Damjanović looks to make runs in behind to exploit the space left by high defensive lines. The team moves from a compact shape into a vertical attacking mode through quick passes to the wings.

The tactical advantages of this Željeznicar lineup include extreme compactness when defending, making it very difficult for opponents to play through the middle.
