Starting Lineup

Adamsen · Wurmbrand · Tilio · Y. Demir · Schaub · Seidl · Horn · Raux Yao · Schöller · Bolla · Hedl

SK Rapid plays with a heavy emphasis on verticality and overwhelming the opposition in the final third using a 2-5-3. This formation is built to dominate the central areas and pin the opponent back through high pressure. The goal is to win the ball high up the pitch and move it forward quickly to catch the defense out of position.

Hedl guards the goal as the last line of defense. The defensive unit relies on a two man back line consisting of Schöller and Raux Yao. These two central defenders must operate in a high line to keep the team compact. Schöller acts as a covering defender while Raux Yao must be ready to step up and intercept passes. Because there are only two defenders, they must be ready to defend one on one if the opposition breaks the initial press.

The midfield core is the engine of SK Rapid and occupies the center of the pitch with five players. A double pivot made of Horn and Bolla sits in front of the defense to shield the two centre backs and protect the central zone. Seidl and Schaub operate in the half spaces to connect the defense to the attack and recycle possession. Tilio plays as an attacking ten behind the striker to drive forward with the ball and find spaces between the lines. This midfield unit is designed to press in pairs and win the ball back high up the pitch.

The attacking front line uses three attackers to stretch the opposition defense. Adamsen acts as a pressing centre forward to lead the line and find the feet of the striker during build up. Wurmbrand plays as a wide winger on the left who looks to cut inside and create goal scoring chances. Y. Demir operates on the right as an inverted winger to isolate wide players in one on one situations. These three forwards work together to press the opposition back line and create runs in behind.

This formation offers significant tactical advantages through its massive central presence. The five man midfield allows SK Rapid to create numerical superiority in the middle of the park. By using Tilio and the wide midfielders, the team can also create wide overloads to whip it in or deliver early crosses. The coordinated press from the front line is designed to squeeze the space and force a long ball.

SK Rapid relies on this aggressive lineup to suffocate opponents through high pressing and central dominance. This formation is best suited for games where the team needs to dominate possession and pin a deep defending opponent back.
