Starting Lineup

Akash · Amar DB · Johnson Tpr · Samir DB · Tushar DB · Basanta · Boyar · Bijoy JMT · Karan · Bibak · Khabai DB

Aizawl focuses on a high press and quick transitions through a 3-4-3 formation. This lineup is built to win the ball high up the pitch and stretch the opposition defense using wide players. The team looks to dominate the middle of the pitch while maintaining enough numbers to punish opponents on the break.

Basanta starts between the posts to organize the back line. A back three consisting of Johnson Tpr, Akash, and Samir DB forms the defensive foundation. Johnson Tpr and Samir DB act as wide center backs to cover the flanks, while Akash sits centrally to win the second ball and manage the defensive line. This unit tends to play a high line to squeeze the space in the middle of the pitch.

The midfield functions as a central block with Bibak and Khabai DB acting as a double pivot. Bibak and Khabai DB work to shield the defense and win possession in the center. They connect the back three to the attackers by playing short passes and driving forward with the ball when gaps appear. On the edges of this central group, Amar DB and Tushar DB operate as wide midfielders who provide constant width and support the wings.

Aizawl uses three attackers to pin the last defender of the opposition. Boyar acts as the lone striker, holding up the ball and making runs in behind the defense. Karan and Bijoy JMT operate as wide attackers, with Karan on the left and Bijoy JMT on the right. Karan and Bijoy JMT look to cut inside to create central threats or pull wide to deliver crosses. The front three press in pairs to force a long ball from the opponent.

This formation offers significant tactical advantages through wide overloads. When Amar DB and Tushar DB push forward, they create two on one situations against the opposition full backs. Aizawl also benefits from the ability to press high in coordinated waves, making it difficult for opponents to play out from the back. The compactness of the midfield allows the team to transition quickly from a mid-block to an attacking position.

Aizawl relies on a high intensity style to disrupt the rhythm of the game. This formation is best suited for matches against teams that struggle to play under pressure and leave space behind their midfield.
