Atlas relies on a high press and quick transitions through a 4-2-4. This lineup aims to overwhelm opponents with numbers in the attacking third, looking to win the ball high up the pitch and hit in behind on the transition. The goal is to stretch the defence by keeping wide players deep in the opposition half.

Antonio guards the goal as the lone man in the defensive unit. The back line operates as a flat back four, with Gaddi and Milton acting as full backs to provide width. Manuel and Adrián form the central pairing, where Manuel acts as a ball playing defender to help play short from the back. This unit must hold a high line to squeeze the space between the lines and support the aggressive press from the front.

The midfield functions as a double pivot consisting of Víctor and Édgár. These two work to shield the defence and recycle possession when the attack stalls. While the forwards push high, Víctor and Édgár must stay compact to prevent being bypassed by central passes. They are responsible for picking up runners from the opposition and protecting the space behind them if the press is broken.

Atlas utilizes a heavy front line with three attackers across the front and a fourth player moving in close. Sergio and Luís operate as wide wingers who look to cut inside and create central presence. Ryan and Luis work as a two forwards in a partnership, with one acting as a pressing centre-forward to force a long ball from the opposition. This group is designed to create runs in behind and isolate defenders in one on one situations.

This formation offers significant speed of transition and the ability to overwhelm the opposition box. By having four players close to the penalty area, Atlas can create wide overloads and quick combinations in tight spaces. The numerical superiority in the final third makes it difficult for a back four to track every runner.

Atlas focuses on a high tempo game that pins the opponent in their own half. This 4-2-4 is best suited for matches where the team needs to chase a goal or play against a side that struggles with high intensity.
