This pairing is tasked with shielding the defence and making sure the gaps between the midfield and the back four are not exploited by the opponent.

Up front, the team utilizes two central strikers supported by wide players. Kane acts as a target man who can hold up the ball and link play, while Djalminha plays as a second striker in the hole to find spaces between the lines. On the flanks, Waddle and E. Gray operate as wide wingers who look to hug the touchline to stretch the play. Their role is to drive at the defence or deliver crosses into the box for Kane to attack the near post or far post.
