Fiorentina looks to dominate through a high press and direct attacking intent using a 4-2-4. This formation is built to stretch the defence and force errors in the opposition half by pushing players high up the pitch. By committing many bodies forward, the team aims to overwhelm the opponent and win the ball back quickly to catch them out of position.

David Burhan plays between the posts to start the build up. The defensive unit operates with a flat back four consisting of John at right back and Hassan at left back. Yohana and Deo act as the central defenders, with Yohana providing cover while Deo holds the line. The full backs are expected to push high to provide width, while the central defenders must be ready to defend space behind them if the press is bypassed.

The midfield functions with a double pivot to provide a layer of protection for the back four. Antony and Steve work together to control the center of the pitch, with one player often dropping to shield the defence while the other looks to carry the ball forward. They act as the bridge between the defenders and the heavy front line, tasked with recycling possession and breaking the line with vertical passes to find the attackers.

A heavy offensive presence is maintained through three attackers across the front line and a high pair of forwards. Saad and Deus act as wide wingers, with Saad on the left and Deus on the right, looking to cut inside and create chances. Mwagane and Paul operate as a two-man strike partnership, often working in combinations to pull defenders out of position. The front four press from the front to force a long ball from the opponent, creating chances for the midfield to intercept and spring a quick attack.

This lineup offers significant advantages through wide overloads and the ability to press in coordinated waves. Because the wingers pull the opposition wide, it creates space in the middle for Mwagane and Paul to find pockets of space. The presence of Antony and Steve allows Fiorentina to maintain a compact middle when defending, making it difficult for opponents to play through the lines.

Fiorentina uses this formation to impose their will on the game through aggressive attacking numbers. It is best suited for matches against teams that sit deep and struggle to handle constant pressure in their own box.
