A five man midfield provides the core of this Fulham lineup. K. Ndziémeck and F. Mbida work as a double pivot to shield the defense and win the second ball. J. Lavery plays in the center to connect the defensive and attacking lines by recycling possession. Berruecos and M. Derks operate in the half spaces, acting as wide midfielders who can track back to help the full backs or push up to support the attack. This midfield group must press in a mid-block to force a long ball from the opponent.

Mpho Mokgosi operates as a lone striker, acting as the point of the attack. He must hold up the ball to allow the midfielders to move up the pitch. Berruecos and M. Derks provide the width, looking to get to the byline and deliver early balls into the box. The attack is built through quick transitions where Mokgosi tries to run in behind the defensive line. When the team wins the ball high up the pitch, the wingers look to cut inside to create space for the midfielders.

This formation offers great compactness when defending in a low block. By having five players in the middle, Fulham can easily win the second ball and stop the opponent from playing through the lines. The presence of the double pivot with K. Ndziémeck and F.
