Starting Lineup

Valle · Ramón · Dossena · Douvikas · Paz · Baturina · Da Cunha · Perrone · Ricci · Caqueret · Sánchez

Como aims to dominate through verticality and aggressive ball winning in a 2-5-3. This lineup seeks to control the center of the pitch and use high numbers to win the ball back quickly. The team builds its identity on high intensity to squeeze the space and move the opponent toward the sidelines.

Sánchez operates behind a very high line with only two central defenders. Ramón and Dossena must defend man-to-man in wide areas and cover massive amounts of space behind them. These two defenders act as ball playing units to start attacks, but they must stay alert to track back if the opponent breaks the line. The defensive unit relies on the midfielders to drop and protect the center to prevent being caught on the transition.

The midfield functions as a heavy block designed to compress the middle. Valle and Caqueret form a double pivot to shield the defense and recycle possession. Ricci and Perrone operate in the half spaces to carry the ball forward and link the defense to the attack. Da Cunha plays as an attacking ten behind the striker, looking to find pockets of space and play through the lines. This central unit is the engine of Como, tasked with pressing in pairs to force a long ball.

The attacking front line uses three attackers to stretch the defence. Baturina and Paz act as wide wingers who hug the touchline to provide width, while Baturina tends to cut inside to create more central presence. Douvikas plays as a lone striker to lead the press from the front and find the feet of the striker during build up. The team looks to attack in combinations, using the runners from deep to support Douvikas as he tries to pin the last defender.

One major advantage of this formation is the numerical superiority in midfield, which allows the team to dominate the ball. The heavy presence of Ricci, Perrone, and Da Cunha makes it difficult for opponents to find space between the lines. Another strength is the ability to press high in coordinated waves, using the front three and the midfield five to suffocate the opponent in their own half.

Como relies on high risk, high reward football to dictate the tempo of the game. This formation is best suited for matches where the team needs to overwhelm an opponent through central dominance and aggressive pressing.
