Czechia aims to play a direct and vertical style of football using a 4-2-4. This lineup is built to catch opponents off guard by stretching the pitch and pushing numbers forward quickly. The main idea is to bypass the middle of the park to reach the attackers as fast as possible.

Matej plays between the posts to oversee the defensive unit. The back line operates as a flat back four with Vladimir and David on the flanks. Vladimir acts as a defensive wing back to help protect the right side while David provides width on the left. In the center, Ladislav and Robin form a central pairing where Ladislav plays as a ball playing defender to start attacks. Robin focuses on holding the line and covering the space behind the full backs.

The midfield operates as a double pivot to provide some security in front of the defense. Tomas and Michael work to shield the back four and win the second ball when long passes are played. Michael drives forward with the ball to link the lines, while Tomas stays deeper to recycle possession and deny the pivot of the opposition. This pair must work hard to cover the large spaces left by the advanced attacking line.

The attack is heavy on numbers, utilizing two wide wingers and two central strikers. Lukas and Pavel act as wide wingers who hug the touchline to stretch the defense and create space in the middle. Adam and Tomas operate as a partnership in the center, with Adam acting as a pressing centre forward to disrupt the opposition build up. Tomas looks to find the feet of the striker and make runs in behind. This front four moves in combinations to isolate wide players in one on one situations.

One major advantage for Czechia is the ability to hit in behind on the transition with four players already positioned high up the pitch. The formation also creates wide overloads when the full backs push up to support the wingers. This setup makes it very difficult for a mid-block to track every runner.

This 4-2-4 formation relies on high energy to win the ball back high up the pitch. It is best suited for games where the opponent plays a high line and can be punished with rapid forward passes.
