In the center, Dragusin and Coubis form a solid pairing where Dragusin uses his aerial strength to defend set pieces and Coubis acts as a covering defender to sweep behind the line.

The midfield relies on a double pivot to maintain control and link the back line to the attack. Razvan Marin operates as a deep lying playmaker, using his passing range to move the ball forward from deep. Dragomir works alongside him to connect the phases, often dropping into space to recycle possession or intercept passes. This pair must remain compact to prevent the opposition from playing through the middle, as the distance between the midfield and the front four can grow during games.

Romania utilizes four attackers to keep the opposition defense pinned back. Munteanu and Olaru act as a central partnership, with Munteanu working to find the feet of the striker while Olaru looks to make runs in behind. On the flanks, Mihaila and Man operate as wide wingers who want to cut inside to create goalscoring opportunities. Mihaila and Man stretch the pitch, forcing the opposing full backs to stay wide, which creates gaps for the central players to exploit through the middle.

The main advantage of this formation is the ability to create wide overloads and overwhelm the defense with numbers. By committing four players to the front line, Romania can isolate defenders in one on one situations and win the second ball in the attacking third. The speed of transition allows the team to catch opponents out of position before they can set their defensive block.
