Bari focuses on a defensive identity built to absorb pressure and strike on the break using a 5-3-2. This formation is designed to stay compact and rely on quick transitions to catch the opposition out of position. By sitting in a mid-block, the team aims to minimize space between the lines and force the opponent into wide areas where they can be contained.

Nicolas Cerofolini acts as the last line of defense behind a back five. The defensive unit uses a narrow defensive block featuring Grgić/Mendicino as the central anchor. To the sides, Vicari/Mogos and Cocetta/Elia operate as wide centre-backs to provide cover and win the second ball. The wide roles are filled by Mantovani/Mane as the right wing back and Celli/Burgio as the left wing back, both of whom must track back to form a solid line when defending deep.

In the middle of the pitch, Bari utilizes a three-man midfield to control the central zone. Darboe/Prisco and Maggiore/Colangiuli act as the engine room, with one player looking to shield the defense while the other drives forward with the ball. Della Morte/Tribuzzi operates in the hole as an attacking ten to connect the midfield and the attack. This midfield unit works to press in pairs and intercept passes before they reach the final third, ensuring the team stays connected from back to front.

The attacking presence relies on a two-man partnership in the front line. Butić/Manzari and Gomez/Bianchi work together to hold up the ball and allow the team to move up the pitch. They often play as a pressing centre-forward and a second striker to harass the opposition back line. When the team wins the ball, they look to hit in behind on the transition, using the width provided by the wing backs to deliver crosses or finding the strikers through the lines.

Bari gains a significant advantage through their compactness when defending and their ability to create wide overloads. When the wing backs push up, they can pin the last defender and create space for the central midfielders to arrive late into the box. This formation also allows the team to shift between a back five and a back three effectively, making it difficult for opponents to find gaps in the central channel.
