Alongside him, Saúl operates as the right central midfielder to drive forward with the ball and press aggressively to win the ball back. This pair must work hard to cover the space left behind when the full backs push up. Jorginho helps to shield the defense and connects the defensive unit to the heavy front line.

N.Cruz and Plata provide width on the flanks as inverted wingers who cut inside to create space for the full backs.
