Starting Lineup
Youssef · Urti · Rubén · Pablo · Zuga · Ibon · Ibai · Sebas · Eneko · Juanpa · RamónThe team operates with a high press and direct attacking intent using a 3-5-2. This formation is built to control the middle of the pitch and use the width of the field to stretch opponents. By utilizing five midfielders, the team aims to win the ball back high up the pitch and quickly move it into the final third.
Youssef operates between the posts to start the build up. The defensive unit consists of a back three with Pablo on the left, Rubén in the center, and Urti on the right. Pablo and Urti act as wide centre-backs to provide cover when the wingers push forward. Rubén acts as the central anchor to hold the line and win headers. The back three functions to squeeze the space and prevent direct balls from getting behind.
In the center, the team uses a three-man midfield with a carrier and two central players. Ibon and Ibai occupy the central spaces to connect the defensive and attacking lines. Ibon works to protect the back three while Ibai looks to drive forward with the ball into the half-spaces. Eneko plays as an attacking ten behind the strikers to find the feet of the forwards. The midfield aims to compress the midfield and deny the turn for opposing players.
The attack features a two-man partnership consisting of Ramón and Juanpa. Ramón acts as a pressing centre-forward to force a long ball from the opposition. Juanpa works to hold up the ball and lay it off for runners. On the flanks, Zuga and Sebas act as attacking wing backs to provide width and deliver crosses. This combination allows the team to attack in combinations or hit in behind on the transition through quick runs.
One major advantage is the ability to create wide overloads as Zuga and Sebas push up to support the attackers. The team also gains numerical superiority in midfield through the presence of Ibon, Ibai, and Eneko. This setup allows the team to press in pairs and win it back high up the pitch to catch the opposition out of position.
This 3-5-2 lineup focuses on high intensity and dominating the central areas of the field. It is best suited for matches against teams that play a single pivot or those that struggle to cope with constant pressure in the middle third.
