Musiala plays as an attacking ten behind the striker, using his dribbling to find pockets of space and play through the lines to the attackers.

In the attacking phase, the team uses three attackers across the front. Havertz acts as a pressing centre forward to harass the opposition back line. Wirtz plays as an inverted winger on the left to cut inside and create, while Karl stays wide on the right to spread the play. This setup creates runs in behind and allows Musiala to arrive late into the box to finish chances.

A major advantage for Germany is the numerical superiority in midfield which allows them to control the tempo. The ability to press high in coordinated waves creates many chances in transition. By using Musiala and the wide attackers, the team can also isolate wide players in one on one situations to break the opposition down.
