Partizan relies on a direct and high pressing identity through a 4-4-2 formation. This lineup is built to win the ball back quickly and move through the lines with verticality. The goal is to disrupt the opposition build up and use the width of the pitch to stretch the defence.

STOJKOVIĆ sits between the posts to organize the defensive unit. The back four operates as a flat defensive line where LAZEVSKI and STEVANOVIĆ act as full backs to provide width. In the middle, KRSTAJIĆ and JOVANOVIĆ form the central pairing, with KRSTAJIĆ often tasked with being a ball playing defender while JOVANOVIĆ focuses on being dominant in the air and covering space. The unit works together to hold the line and squeeze the space between the defense and midfield.

The midfield functions as a four man block that links the back four to the front two. MEDO and PETROVIĆ act as a double pivot to shield the defence and win the second ball in central areas. MEDO provides the presence to break up play while PETROVIĆ can carry the ball forward to progress through the thirds. In the half spaces, ILIĆ and TOMIĆ operate as two tens who press aggressively to win the ball high up the pitch and look to play through the lines to the attackers.

Partizan utilizes a two man strike partnership to pressure the opposition back line. CLEO operates as a pressing centre-forward, using his movement to pin the last defender and create space. He works in combination with the second striker to make runs in behind or drop deep to link up play. The attackers aim to isolate a one on one wide or find the feet of the striker during rapid transitions. When the team wins possession, they look to hit in behind on the transition with quick vertical passes.

This formation offers significant advantages in terms of compactness when defending and the ability to press in waves. By using the double pivot of MEDO and PETROVIĆ, Partizan can maintain a strong central block while ILIĆ and TOMIĆ push higher to create numerical superiority in the attacking third. The wide presence of the full backs allows for overlaps to support the midfielders during the attack.

The 4-4-2 setup for Partizan is designed for teams that want to dominate the physical battle and strike quickly on the break. It is best suited for matches against opponents who play a high line and struggle to deal with direct verticality.
