São Paulo aims to control matches through high pressing and aggressive verticality using a 3-4-3. This formation is built to win the ball back high up the pitch and quickly spread wide to stretch the defence. The lineup focuses on creating numerical superiority in the attacking third while maintaining a compact block when the ball is lost.

C. Coronel acts as the last line of defence, playing out from the back to start the build up. The back three consists of Newton, R. Arboleda, and Luís Osório. R. Arboleda serves as the central anchor, dominant in the air and commanding the line, while Newton and Luís Osório act as the wider centre backs to cover the space behind the wing backs. This unit can shift to a back five when defending deep to deny the turn to opposition attackers.

The midfield functions as a bank of four that links the defensive line to the forwards. Iago and L. Ramon operate as the wide midfielders, tasked to provide width and track back when the team loses possession. In the central areas, D. Bobadilla and P. Vite operate as a double pivot to control the tempo. D. Bobadilla works to shield the defence and win the second ball, while P. Vite drives forward with the ball to carry it through the thirds.

São Paulo employs three attackers across the front line to pin the last defender. Gustavo S. acts as a pressing centre forward to force long balls from the opposition. Lucas and Artur V. play as wide attackers who cut inside to create goal scoring chances. Lucas often drifts into half spaces to find the feet of the striker or deliver early crosses. These attackers work in combinations to create runs in behind or allow for cutbacks from the byline.

One major advantage for São Paulo is the ability to press high in coordinated waves, using the front three to trigger a press. This setup also allows for wide overloads when Iago and L. Ramon push up to overlap the wingers. The speed of transition is a key strength, as the team can move from a mid-block to an attacking position in seconds.

This 3-4-3 formation relies on aggressive pressing and quick vertical movements. It is best suited for games against opponents who struggle to play out from the back under intense pressure.
