Starting Lineup
Shriyan · Vikash · Kailash · Shravan · Charan · Kirupa · Siva · Akshaj · Ashvath · GK · NandaThis team focuses on a high press and rapid transitions using a 5-2-3 formation. The lineup is built to win the ball high up the pitch and quickly hit the opposition in behind. By using a heavy attacking front line, the team aims to stretch the defence and create chaos during the attacking phase.
Vikash stays between the posts to organize the defensive unit. The back line consists of a back three with Shravan, Nanda, and Charan acting as the central defenders. Shravan covers the right side of the central trio while Nanda sits in the middle to command the area. Charan occupies the left central spot. To provide width, Kailash plays as an attacking wing back on the right, and Shriyan acts as an attacking wing back on the left. This formation allows the defenders to drop into a low block when needed or push up to squeeze the space.
In the center of the pitch, the team operates with a double pivot. Akshaj and Siva form the two central midfielders who must work hard to protect the back three. Siva works to shield the defence and intercept passes, while Akshaj looks to carry the ball forward to connect the lines. These two midfielders are responsible for recycling possession and ensuring the team does not get caught on the counter. They must also track back quickly to help the wing backs when the team loses the ball in the final third.
The attacking unit uses three attackers across the front to pin the opposition defenders. Kirupa plays as an inverted winger on the left, looking to cut inside and create chances, while Ashvath occupies the right wing to provide width. GK operates as a pressing centre forward to lead the line and harass the opposition centre backs. This front three works to press from the front, forcing long balls and winning the second ball to keep the pressure high. The movement of Kirupa and Ashvath is designed to create space for GK to run into.
One major strength of this lineup is the ability to create wide overloads when Kailash and Shriyan push forward. This forces the opposition wingers to track back and leaves them outnumbered. Another advantage is the compactness when defending in a back five, which makes it very difficult for opponents to play through the middle. The team can shift from a wide attacking presence to a narrow defensive block very quickly.
The 5-2-3 formation provides a heavy offensive presence while maintaining a solid foundation. It is best suited for games against teams that play a high line and can be caught on the transition.
