Custom Team Football Formation
Starting Lineup
Shriyan · Vikash · Kailash · Shravan · Charan · Kirupa · Siva · Akshaj · Ashvath · GK · NandaA focus on defensive solidity and quick transitions defines this team playing a 5-2-3. The lineup is built to sit in a compact block and wait for the right moment to hit the opposition on the break. This formation allows for a very strong central presence while providing width through aggressive wing backs.
Vikash stays between the posts to command the area and organize the defense. The back line consists of a back three with Shravan, Nanda, and Charan working together to protect the middle. Shravan acts as the right-sided center back, while Charan covers the left side, and Nanda sits in the center to sweep up any danger. Kailash operates as a right wing back to provide width and support the attack, while Shriyan works on the left flank as an attacking wing back. This unit remains narrow when defending to deny central passing lanes.
In the middle of the pitch, the team uses a double pivot to control the tempo. Ashvath and Siva form this duo, with both players tasked to shield the defense and win the second ball. Ashvath works to carry the ball forward from deep, while Siva helps to recycle possession and link the defense to the front three. They must stay close to each other to compress the midfield and prevent the opposition from playing through the lines.
The attacking front line utilizes three players to stretch the defense. GK leads the line as a lone striker, tasked to hold up the ball and pin the last defender. On the wings, Kirupa acts as an inverted winger to cut inside, while Akshaj stays wide to provide options for crosses. These attackers press from the front to force a long ball from the opposition. The goal is to create runs in behind or use the wing backs to provide overlaps and deliver crosses into the box.
One major advantage of this formation is the ability to create wide overloads when Kailash and Shriyan push up the pitch. This puts immense pressure on the opposition full backs. Additionally, the team can maintain a very compact shape when defending, making it hard for opponents to find space between the lines. The speed of transition from the double pivot to the front three allows for rapid counter attacks.
This 5-2-3 formation relies on defensive discipline and the energy of the wing backs. It is best suited for matches against teams that dominate possession and leave space behind their defensive line.
