Jagiellonia Football Formation
Starting Lineup
Abramowicz · Vital · Wojtuszek · Sow · Prelec · Imaz · Klynge · Kozlowski · Kobayashi · Montoia · SzmytJagiellonia looks to win the ball high up the pitch and strike with speed using a 5-2-3. This formation is built to play a high press while remaining capable of dropping into a low block when the opposition gains control. The lineup focuses on verticality and quick transitions to catch opponents out of position.
Abramowicz sits between the posts to command his area. The defensive unit uses a back five to protect the central zone, featuring Kozlowski as the central anchor. Kobayashi and Vital operate as the wide centre-backs, providing cover and stepping up to intercept passes. Wojtuszek and Montoia act as attacking wing backs, tasked to push high and provide width for Jagiellonia. This defensive block works to squeeze the space between the lines and force long balls.
A double pivot controls the center of the pitch to connect the defense to the attack. Klynge and Imaz form the two central midfielders, with Klynge often sitting deeper to shield the defense. Imaz works to carry the ball forward and drive into the half spaces to progress through the thirds. They must work hard to win the second ball and recycle possession quickly to keep the pressure on the opponent.
The attack utilizes three players across the front to stretch the defense. Prelec leads the line as a lone striker, looking to find the feet of his teammates and hold up the ball. Szmyt and Sow operate as wide attackers, with Szmyt on the left and Sow on the right. They look to cut inside to create central presence or pull wide to allow Wojtuszek and Montoia to overlap. This front three works to press the opposition back line and create runs in behind.
One major advantage of this formation is the ability to create wide overloads. When the wing backs push up, they combine with Sow and Szmyt to pin the last defender and force the opposition into difficult decisions. Jagiellonia also benefits from the compactness when defending, as the five defenders and two midfielders can form a very narrow defensive block. This makes it difficult for opponents to play through the middle.
The 5-2-3 is a setup designed for high intensity and quick counters. It is best suited for matches against teams that play with high defensive lines or those that struggle to deal with wide overloads.
