DI FRANCO 07 (188 DX) · 7 BOJANG 00 (180 DX) · 9 DOS SANTOS 88 (188 SX) · 3 MAYDANA 95 (174 SX) · 2 BRUGALETTA 08 (DX) · 5 INTZIDIS 93 (189 SX/AMBIDX) · 6 DELLA GUARDIA 95 (186 SX) · 4 VALENCA 95 (185 SX) · 10 IDOYAGA 98 (178 SX/AMBIDX) · 11 CURRO' 03 (182 DX) · 8 PACE 01 (178 DX)Focusing on heavy midfield control and central congestion, this lineup utilizes a 2-6-2 formation. The team aims to dominate the center of the pitch by flooding the middle with bodies to win the ball back high up the pitch and control the tempo. This formation is built to play a game of sustained pressure, using a massive midfield block to squeeze the space in front of the defense.
DI FRANCO operates as the lone goalkeeper behind a very narrow defensive unit. The back line consists of only two central defenders, 5 INTZIDIS and 6 DELLA GUARDIA, who must remain extremely disciplined to avoid being caught in behind. These two central defenders act as a tight pair, tasked with clearing the lines and covering the wide areas when the midfield is bypassed. Because there are no full backs, INTZIDIS and DELLA GUARDIA must stay compact to protect the center and prevent runners from finding space between them.
The midfield is the engine of this formation, utilizing a massive six man unit to control every zone. BRUGALETTA acts as a right defensive midfielder to shield the defense, while MAYDANA occupies the left defensive midfield role to provide extra protection. In the center, VALENCA connects the defensive and attacking lines. The creative burden falls on PACE and CURRO' in the left and right central midfield roles, where they look to recycle possession and spread wide. BOJANG plays as an attacking ten behind the two forwards, tasked to find the feet of the striker and operate in the pocket between the lines.
The attack features two forwards in a partnership to stretch the opposition back line. 9 DOS SANTOS and 10 IDOYAGA work together to pin the last defender and provide a target for long balls or quick transitions. These two attackers press from the front to force a long ball from the opposition. While the midfielders push forward, DOS SANTOS and IDOYAGA must hold up the ball to allow the midfielders to arrive late into the box. This front line relies on combinations in tight spaces to break the lines of the opposition defense.
A primary tactical advantage of this lineup is the massive numerical superiority in midfield, which allows the team to crowd out opponents and win the second ball easily. By having six players in the middle, the team can create central overloads that force the opposition to sit deep. Another strength is the ability to press in a mid-block with extreme density, making it very difficult for opponents to play through the center.
This formation is built for total midfield dominance and aggressive central pressing. It is best suited for matches against teams that struggle to progress the ball through crowded central areas.
