Starting Lineup
Ali · Yatharth · Nuraz · Zubair · Murtaza · Munni · Sami · Zunoor · Aman · Aqeel · AfrazA focus on defensive solidity and quick verticality defines this lineup in a 5-3-2. The formation is built to absorb pressure and strike through the middle or use the width provided by the wing backs. This tactical setup allows the team to stay compact when the opposition has the ball and provides a platform for rapid transitions.
Afraz plays behind a back five to provide security in goal. The central defensive trio of Aman, Murtaza, and Munni maintains a narrow defensive block to protect the central zones. Aman acts as the central anchor to clear the lines, while Murtaza and Munni provide cover to the left and right respectively. Sami and Zunoor act as attacking wing backs who push high up the pitch to provide width, but they must track back quickly to form a five man line when defending.
The midfield operates as a three man midfield with a carrier. Yatharth sits as the single pivot to shield the defence and win the second ball. Beside him, Aqeel and Ali work to connect the defensive and attacking lines. Aqeel and Ali are tasked to press in a mid-block to win the ball back and then carry the ball forward to progress through the thirds. This midfield unit works to squeeze the space between the lines to deny the opposition time on the ball.
The attack uses two forwards in a partnership. Nuraz and Zubair work closely together to link up play between the lines and run in behind the opposition defence. They often combine in tight spaces to draw defenders out of position. When the team wins the ball, the wing backs Sami and Zunoor look to spread wide to stretch the defence, allowing Nuraz and Zubair to find space in the channels or receive the ball in the box.
This formation offers significant advantages through its defensive compactness. The narrow block created by Aman, Murtaza, and Munni makes it very difficult for opponents to play through the middle. Additionally, the team can create wide overloads when Sami and Zunoor overlap the midfielders to catch the opposition out of position. The speed of transition from the single pivot Yatharth to the front two allows for immediate attacks.
This 5-3-2 formation is designed for a team that wants to remain difficult to break down while looking to hit opponents on the break. It is best suited for matches against teams that dominate possession and rely on central attacking patterns.
