Starting Lineup
JERE (1) · CHAVO (4) · PAZ (2) · PIPA (6) · ENZO (3) · CHUCKY (8) · MARCIANO (5) · CAFE (11) · JOSE (10) · MAURI (9) · FABIAN (7)Searching for control and defensive security, this lineup utilizes a 5-3-2 formation. The team aims to play a vertical style of football that relies on quick transitions once the ball is recovered. By keeping a compact block, the side focuses on winning second balls and hitting the opposition quickly in behind.
Jere acts as the last line of defense in goal. The defensive unit operates as a back five with Marciano sitting as the central defender to command the area. He is supported by Paz at right centre back and Pipa at left centre back to provide a strong presence in the air. To provide width, Chavo operates as a right wing back to push up the flank, while Enzo plays as the left wing back to cover the wide areas. This group works to hold the line and squeeze the space between the defensive and midfield units.
In the middle of the pitch, the team employs a three-man midfield. Chucky and Cafe work to control the central zone, with Chucky often driving forward with the ball to link the play. They are supported by Jose, who plays as an attacking ten behind the strikers to create chances in the half spaces. While Cafe helps to shield the defense, Jose looks to find the pockets of space between the opposition lines. This trio works together to press in a mid-block and disrupt the opponent's rhythm.
The attack is built around a two-man partnership consisting of Mauri and Fabian. Fabian plays as the left striker, often looking to make runs in behind the defense, while Mauri plays as the right striker to hold up the ball and link with the midfield. The team uses the width provided by Enzo and Chavo to stretch the defense and deliver crosses into the box. When the ball is won high up the pitch, the forwards press the opposition back line to force a long ball.
One major advantage of this formation is the ability to create wide overloads when Enzo and Chavo push high. The side also benefits from numerical superiority in central areas when the wing backs tuck in during defensive phases. This setup allows the team to remain extremely compact when defending deep, making it very hard for opponents to play through the middle.
This 5-3-2 formation is built for teams that want to absorb pressure and strike on the counter. It is best suited for matches against heavy possession teams where the goal is to sit deep and exploit space in transition.
