Bratstvo focuses on a heavy defensive presence and rapid counter attacks using a 5-2-3. This formation is built to sit in a mid-block and use the width of the pitch to punish teams that commit too many players forward. The lineup aims to absorb pressure before launching long balls or quick transitions to the front three.
ALBERTOSI guards the goal and acts as the last line of defense. The back five features VORONIN as the central anchor, while CHARLTON and VASOVIĆ sit as the wide centre-backs to provide cover. VORONIN works to clear the lines and command the area, with CHARLTON and VASOVIĆ stepping up to intercept passes or win the header. ZEBEC and VOGTS act as attacking wing backs, providing the necessary width and stretching the opposition. This defensive unit functions by staying compact to deny the turn and forcing play into crowded central areas.
The midfield relies on a double pivot to maintain control of the central zone. SASTRE and MAZZOLA operate as the two central midfielders, tasked with shielding the defense and winning the second ball. SASTRE works to connect the defensive and attacking lines, while MAZZOLA looks to carry the ball forward to support the press. They must work together to compress the midfield and ensure they do not get bypassed by the opposition. This pairing is vital for recycling possession and switching play to the wide areas.
Bratstvo uses three attackers across the front to exploit spaces in transition. SIVORI and KOPA act as wide wingers who hug the touchline to spread the defense, while VUKAS plays as a lone pressing centre-forward. VUKAS works to pin the last defender and hold up the ball to allow the others to join the attack. SIVORI and KOPA look to cut inside to create chances or deliver early crosses into the box. The front three are designed to hit in behind on the transition and use combinations to break the line.
This formation offers a significant advantage through its ability to transition from a deep block to a heavy attack very quickly. The wide overloads created by ZEBEC and VOGTS overlapping the wingers create constant threats on the flanks. Bratstvo also benefits from a high level of compactness when defending, making it very difficult for opponents to find passing lanes through the center.
This 5-2-3 lineup is built to absorb pressure and strike with lethal speed on the break. It is best suited for matches against teams that dominate possession and leave space behind their full backs.
